Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have general questions about biodiesel

A: Check out the incredibly helpful and comprehensive GoBiodiesel FAQ

Q: B99? B99? What about B100?

A: SeQuential blends 1% of petroleum diesel with biodiesel in order to qualify for the maximum amount of Federal Tax Credits. This lowered the price of biodiesel by about 70 cents. We thought the compromise was well worth it, especially considering that a small amount of fossil fuels are used to produce commercial biodiesel anyway.

Q: Are you part of GoBiodiesel Cooperative? Do I need to be a co-op member to buy fuel from Bluesky Fuel?

A: No and no.

Q: Where does your fuel come from? Is it ASTM spec?

A: We source our fuel from SeQuential Biofuels, not from GoBiodiesel Cooperative or World Energy. The fuel is commercially produced and either made in Seattle or Salem. It could either be from virgin oil or recycled cooking oil. All the fuel is made to the Federally-approved ASTM spec for biodiesel.

Q: Do you ever mix petroleum diesel into your biodiesel (for the winter)?

A: No. Our fuel is B99 year-round. You are responsible for blending, adding anti-gel, or using an approved cold-weather package for your vehicle if you choose to operate your vehicle in near-freezing weather.

Q: Southeast Portland is too far. Do you know of someplace closer?

A: We have a new pump opening soon in North Portland and are aggressively looking for other locations in the Portland metro area, so stay tuned. GoBiodiesel has a current list of biodiesel pumps throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Q: I want to buy 'bulk' or 'off-road' fuel therefore I don't want to pay road tax.

A: We don't sell 'bulk' or 'off-road' fuel, but other biodiesel providers might.

Q: Why do you have to set up a phone call or face to face meeting before you give out the address to the Southeast Portland bioidesel pump?

A: To make sure you can find the site and give a brief orientation about some of the site peculiarities. You will not be exposed to any marketing or sales pitches, and your information will never be shared with third parties.
